US government says it’s investigating alleged leaks of NSA data and ‘national security implications’
The US government is investigating alleged leaked information about the NSA’s mass surveillance program, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.
The WSJ reports that a senior US official told reporters that the NSA had “been monitoring the internet and social media” in an effort to “identify potential threats.”
According to the article, the official said the information was leaked by a whistleblower, but that he was not authorized to speak publicly about the matter.
The US National Security Agency declined to comment on the WSJ report.
