
Which service is most likely to be affected by the Queensland floods?
An Aussie woman is suing the Queensland government after she claims it has failed to provide her with the services she needs to cope with the flooding.
Arieen Waihora is seeking damages for the cost of her emergency flood insurance policy.
“I’ve been through three years of living with a mental health disability and I’ve been trying to get the assistance I need from the government,” she said.
It’s a common misconception that people with mental health conditions can’t handle the flooding and the Arieen says the Queensland Government is not doing enough to help her.
“They don’t know what to do with me, they’re doing nothing for me,” Ms Waiahora said.
“It’s the first time in my life I’ve ever been treated in a hospital like this.”
The only thing that I’m really feeling is the fear that I’ve got to get to work.
“The Queensland Government says it’s looking at ways to provide more information and help.”
